Hello Mental Health Services: Therapy for Children, Adolescents, Adults and Couples

Hello Mental Health therapists provide psychotherapy services for individuals and for couples who recognize they need assistance with their mental health. We recognized each client has their own personal story and no two people can be put in a box and might have different needs on their path to emotional healing.

Oftentimes people go to a doctor to “fix” something. Therapists often see this too in situations where a patient comes on board in a crisis mode. Some people also prefer to check in with a therapist on a regular basis as a way to maintain a healthy mental state and keep them moving forward with professional or personal success. We are here to meet our patients where they are in the moment.

We’d like to take this moment to summarize our full complement of patient and professional services.

So, What is Therapy Anyway?

In an earlier blog, we visited the importance of mental health and put up statistics about where Ohioans rank for suicide, depression, and substance use disorder. These are just some of the reasons our patients come to us and know Hello Mental Health compassionately helps with healing.

We offer psychotherapy through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), as well as a specific forms of CBT called dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Cognitive behavioral therapy: the science of changing troublesome thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

CBT treatment usually involves effort to shift thinking patterns. These strategies might include fact checking to debunk distorted or negative thought patterns, gaining a better understanding of one’s behaviors, using problem-solving and coping skills regularly, and developing greater confidence in one’s own abilities.

Dialectic behavioral therapy: an approach to therapy focused on increasing mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

DBT emphasizes taking responsibility for one's problems and helping the individual examine how they deal with conflict and intense negative emotions. DBT is often most helpful when done in a combination of individual and group therapy.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: mindfulness-based therapy focused on increasing psychological flexibility through acceptance, mindfulness, and living a life in line with your values.

ACT is focused on helping individuals understand their and accept their emotions and committing to move forward with positivity and openness.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), both CBT and DBT are commonly practiced across the United States by therapists.

Hypnosis:  Hypnosis is the process of eliciting a trance and offering suggestions to the unconscious mind. The state of being in a trance is natural within the brain and experienced often in the routine moments of our days. Dr. Bailey Bryant is specially trained to introduce hypnosis as a therapy tool for clients and it is an effective way to help you make shifts in your mental health, mindset, habits and behaviors.

Therapy for Children and Adolescents

Psychotherapy may help children and adolescents receive emotional support, resolve conflicts with peers and adults, understand their own feelings, deal with their problems effectively, and try out new solutions to old problems. Goals for adolescent therapy may be specific (shifts in negative behavior, improved relationships with friends, relief of school stress) or more general (less anxiety, better self-esteem). Traditionally, sessions are scheduled once a week for 45-50 minutes.

Therapy for Adults

Individual psychotherapy is a form of treatment based on dialogue between the client and therapist. Traditionally, sessions are scheduled once a week for 45-50 minutes. Therapy can be helpful for anyone who is not content with their current quality of life due to external circumstances, struggles within relationships, trauma, troublesome thoughts, problem behaviors, or difficulty regulating emotions.

Therapy for Couples

Couple's psychotherapy is a form of treatment based on dialogue between the couple and therapist. Traditionally, sessions are scheduled once a week for 60-75 minutes. Couple's therapy can be helpful for a dyad that is not content with the current quality of the relationship and would like to strengthen the relationship, improve intimacy, change problematic behaviors, improve communication, handle conflict more effectively, and cope with change.
