  • Out-of-network means that you would pay us directly and we would provide you with a receipt (called a superbill) that you would submit to your insurance company. This would go towards any deductible first, if this applies. Once the deductible is met, you would receive reimbursement at the rate that the insurance company has set. This is typically between 50 to 90%

  • We do not guarantee that your insurance company will reimburse you for your treatment

At Hello Mental Health, choosing self-pay isn’t about making things harder—it’s about offering you better care. Here’s what that means in practice:

  • You work with highly skilled, licensed psychologists in Cincinnati who are deeply committed to your whole wellbeing—not just to checking insurance boxes. Our clinicians are supported by systems designed to reduce burnout. That means they bring energy, care, and presence to each session.

  • Commitment to quality, over quantity. Because we don’t need to see as many patients to satisfy insurance contracts, our clinicians can maintain sustainable caseloads. That means more consistency, better availability, and stronger therapeutic relationships.

  • More flexibility and choice. Because we’re not bound by every restriction insurance panels impose, therapy with us can be personalized—matched to you, your goals, your rhythm. We collaborate with you to design treatment, not force you into fixed “packages.”

  • Confidentiality and dignity. Insurance often requires a formal mental health “diagnosis,” and notes that become part of broader medical records. We believe you should have agency over how your story is labeled. Self-pay gives space to earn trust, explore what feels true, and hold what you share more privately.

  • Clear expectations & fewer surprises. When you self-pay, you know the cost up front. No unexpected copays, denied claims, or insurance-lag issues. We provide superbills for out-of-network insurance if you want to seek reimbursement; but you’re never depending on insurers to access care.

  • Inclusive & trauma-informed environment. Our practice is built so that you can show up as you are, with all your background, identity, neurodivergence, and lived experience honored. We do this work because we believe systemic barriers matter.

  • Broader service options. We offer a range of specialty assessments, ADHD evaluations, couples & family work, ketamine integration, etc., with enough time and headspace to really do what makes a difference. Often, insurance-based providers have constraints on modalities, or limits on session length/frequency.
